Ron Shuler, the event’s organizer, stated, “We really want to raise awareness of the epidemic of violent crimes across our country that involve our youth.” Since 2011, Peace Drummers has performed at several venues throughout the West Coast, and the Southwestern United States. Their mission, says Shuler, is to fight the epidemic of youth crimes in America by promoting tolerance, peace, and brotherly/sisterly love between people of different colors, and faiths.
“Regardless of one’s race, it is important to stand up for peace because we all belong to only one race, in realitythe human race,” Shuler continued.
The group hopes to raise money to donate to area school anti-violence programs. While contributions are not expected, a $5 contribution is appreciated. The Peace Drummers “open circle” event is open to the general public, and begins at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the north end of Benson Lake.

Nobel Peace Prize Goes to Tunisian Group
Co-founder of the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet, Ali Ahmed, stated, “This is an extraordinary honor for our growing democratic movement in Tunisia, but there is still much more work to be done, and effort to be made in order to secure peace in our country, as well as the region.”
“Since the demise of the Ben Ali Regime five years ago, democracy and civil rights under a constitution have been a challenge for those who resisted the Arab Spring movement,” Ahmed continued.
According to the Nobel Prize Committee, the award will help the Tunisian people secure peace and economic prosperity, and provide a positive example for other nations in the conflict-ridden region (nobelprize.org, internet).
