The article gives information on anti-dumping duties that China is applying on the imports of steel tubes from the EU and Japan. The EU made a complaint to the World Trade Organization (WTO) claiming that China is breaking free trade agreement between countries. However, China is not accepting this claim and defending itself by stating that China is only trying protect its national industry against other nations dumping strategies. Similar cases have been observed between China, the EU and Japan.
Dumping is implementing a supportive strategy for national products. Anti-damping is a responsive strategy against the dumping strategies to defend goods of a country in international trade. Dumping influences price of a national product (decreases it in international market relative to competing products), thus this country can sell more of this product to other countries. WTO aims at destroying all kind of dumping strategies. China, the EU and Japan are important countries in international trade with their essential features. They always want to export more and more; and sometimes these countries use international trade tricks to reach their objective.
The story given in the article is very confusing, because the strong economies such as China, U.S.A., Japan etc. are not so much inclined to follow the free trade conditions developed by WTO and they migh create some policies against free trade. It is an economical war and sometimes a political war. To be able understand why China is implementing anti-dumping strategy, it is required to trace the trade relations between these countries. As known that many less developed countries suffers from some anti-free trade policies of developed countries, however, the approach to these cases by the international institutions are like that it is not that important. Consequently, trade wars between countries will create such conflicts forever between countries.
