Question 1
One important ethical issue that is faced by companies engaged in e-business is poor service (Streissguth, 2016). The online companies are involved in the sale and shipment of goods to customers. Some companies sell low quality goods to the consumers in the pretext of selling high quality goods. They update their websites with pictures of high quality goods and end up sending low quality goods to the customers. Some online companies selling clothes are known for delivering the opposite of what they promised. A good example is an online company known as TB Dress. The company sells clothes, shoes and accessories to consumers via the internet. The company’s website has an array of its products plus their prices. The images are very beautiful and many people end up making purchases. Many customers have ended up complaining that the goods they received are not similar to the images of the goods they ordered. They have also complained about the quality of these goods. The customers also say that their complaints are ignored by the company’s staff. It is unethical for the company to deliver goods that do not meet the customer’s specifications.
Question 2
TB Dress should adopt two policies that its employees have to follow so as to meet the issue of poor service. These policies include preparing goods according to the customer’s specifications; and offering solutions to customers’ problems. The main provisions of each policy are outlined below.
Preparing goods according to customer’s specifications:
Preparing the exact product selected by the customer
Ensuring the product is made according to the measurements provided by the customer
Ensuring that the color of the product is consistent with the customer’s choice
Producing and delivering the product in a timely manner
Offering solutions to customers’ problems
The complaints filed by the customers should be addressed as soon as the message is received
The customer should be allowed to resend the goods back to the company in case of a complaint
The customer should be advised on how long it will take to deliver the new goods
The customer should be given the option to file for a refund without hassle
