Management’s Role in Implementation of Code
The idea behind feedback is that management needs to develop employees who are aware of the expectations from them. The employees that fall behind in terms of their understanding of the code should be re-trained. Finally, management should get all employees to sign an agreement where they agree to abide by the guidelines (The State of Queensland).
Communication Plan
Successful communication plan for the project will follow certain steps which are; deciding the methods of delivering the code, understanding of the code, and taking action the code is accepted. The management will carry out these steps and educate employees about the upcoming changes through the code. The first step is deciding the methods that will be used for code communication, which will ensure that employees are reached with different methods. The next step of communication plan is to perform actions that help in increasing the understanding of the code among employees. The final step of the communication plan is to take action and makings sure the code of conduct is accepted and followed by the employees. These three steps will ensure the management can achieve its objectives by communication the plan, enhancing understanding among employees and ensuring the code is accepted as the norm among employees (The State of Queensland).
Induction Package
Induction training provides an opportunity for employers to examine and understand the requirements and expectations from them added in the code of conduct. The induction package can be used as an effective tool to educate all employees, both present and new about the guidelines that they need to follow (The State of Queensland).
Online Training Course
Employees will also be educated about the code of conduct through an online training course on the guidelines that they need to follow. It is important that the management keeps a deadline within which the training course needs to be completed. After the completion of the online course, employees need to be provided with a certificate of competency after they have understood the code effectively (The State of Queensland).
One-on-One Training
The management will also play a crucial role in training employees on the code of conduct.
A senior level executive will take a leading role in educating and preparing employees for the change in guidelines added to the code of conduct (The State of Queensland).
Employee Handbook
Management will also make use of the employee handbook by adding the code of conduct to it. Employees can check the handbook before taking action and ensuring they are following the set guidelines (The State of Queensland).
Noticeboards
A traditional way will also be used for making sure employees are educated about the code of conduct. This method would be noticeboard, which would mean employees are actively aware of the actions they need to follow or avoid (The State of Queensland).
Assessing Compliance
There are several ways that can be used for ensuring that employees comply with the changes. One of the ways is to ask employees to sign a compliance agreement that guarantees their agreement on abiding by the guidelines in the code of conduct. This action will ensure conflict is minimized when any employee violates the guidelines of the code and disciplinary action needs to be taken. Management can also set deadlines for all employees to get acquainted with the upcoming changes in the code of conduct and provide them with several alternative sources to learn about the code of conduct. Another way is to make employees fill out a questionnaire or survey regarding the code of conduct. This action will help in identifying employees that have failed to fully understand all the guidelines and ensure they are made to go through the code all over again (The State of Queensland).
Recommendations to Handle Change
The management needs to ensure they take steps that ensure the change is successfully implemented. Some of the recommendations are communicated in advance, bringing employees on board, and reviewing the code. Communicating in advance would mean the management would identify a problem and engage employees in a discussion for change needed to overcome the problem. Bringing employees on board would mean the management would reduce the risks of conflict with employees over the prospective changes. Finally, management should accept feedback from employees and need to be open to making changes to the specific guidelines.
