Zay is an excellent hunter who is involved in hunting and gathering. He is also an excellent leader by example. Despite the fact that even though Yan follows his lead, most of the time, he resents Zay whom he believes had something to do with the fact that his parents disappeared and he was moved into the Alpha male spot.
As Jo wakes up, he finds himself alone. He realises that he has to hunt in order to survive and also to take care of his families. He hunts and he is also prepared to lead the family bearing in mind that his father who was once a leader is missing.
After walking hundreds of miles over the course of a year, defeating huge animals, and experiencing extremely dramatic climate changes, Jo finally makes it back to his family. However, Yan is still in charge of the group. The members of the group are miserable because they hate their leader. Therefore, Jo, having mastered all his hunting and survival skills will fight his cousin Yan again. Using his newly acquired muscle, weapons, and skills, Jo is able to defeat Yan in a fight and take control of the hunter-gatherer group. Jo is reunited with his family, and Yan walks away in defeat because he would rather leave the pack, than to just become another member under the Alpha Male leadership of Jo.
