The purpose of this form is to evaluate the effectiveness of the teacher in sixth grade class, the effectiveness of the teaching methodology adopted and the response of the students to the same. The evaluation of the body on four aspects – learning environment, motivational techniques, and performance of the teacher and response of the students seems very appropriate because it covers the fundamentals of teaching. This form, which has been filled by an observer, shows that the students in the class are ready to work in groups, give active response in class and also take notes, which shows that the teacher has been able to capture the attention of the students and keep them engaged. The teacher has been found to help each student in the course, encourage small group activities to enhance team spirit and explain the subject with practical and real world references to which the students can relate.
The body also evaluates the learning environment which indicates whether the physical environment of the classroom and the school are conducive for the students. This is an important aspect because the physical environment in which the student studies is as important as the knowledge that is passed. In addition evaluation of motivational techniques speaks about the teaching methodology and the effectiveness of the teacher as a mentor.
Overall, this observation form is very effective and highlights all the key areas related to teaching. The points which have not been ticked can be considered as the areas in which the teachers need to work to improve themselves. To increase the effectiveness of this body points are categorized into priorities so that the observer can clearly indicate the essential qualities present.
