Many of us hated going to school and doing our homework ever since we were little children. Once we finish high school, college is the next step that not only prepares us intellectually, it allows us to become independent and learn from our mistakes. For the young generation, it is not only important to get a good education, but also to learn about themselves and their tendencies. Education ensures emotional, mental and physical preparation to be able to pursue future goals.
If we know how to read and write, we can question what we hear rather than believing everything and standing up for whatever we believe in. For instance, Frederick Douglass, a young slave, did not realize his potential to do something for the world until he began learning to read and write. Eventually, Douglass became a very influential figure in American history after escaping slavery and he would not have succeeded in achieving his goals if he was not educated. Being able to read and write is merely the foundation of education, and ultimately it progresses to polishing us off as an individual and preparing us for life.
Attending school and then college has become a necessity today. Getting good high paying jobs out of high school without a college degree is very unlikely these days. As result more and more young children thrive to attend college and obtain college degrees. In today’s world almost every other job requires that employees have a college degree. Before going to college, a person can only hope to earn $8 to $10 an hour, but after graduating with an invaluable degree, they can earn five to six times of that. Thus, the role of education, especially higher education, prepares the younger generation to step into worthwhile careers in their coming future.
Education is not only meant to prepare the young generation mentally, but also to prepare them to become independent in their life. Becoming independent and entering the real world forces them to push themselves, make smart decisions, and face consequences if they slack off. The school and college atmosphere allows them to better themselves as persons and learn from their mistakes. Many people find it hard to feel motivated to do things by themselves but they soon realize that they need to do things on their own. Thus, education forces the young generation to grow up and make their own decisions about their life.
It is apparent that education is important for the young generation in a variety of ways. It teaches them to be more intellectual to push themselves on their own. Most importantly it teaches them to become independent and stop depending on their parents for everything. Of course, education is also necessary and will be even more in the near future. In today’s age, the ability to earn a handsome income, leading to a happy and successful life, and ultimately, the very survival in the real world depends on being educated. That is why it is best for the young generation to start early and pursue education to the very end.
