Personal Statement
- Malcolm X
Though Malcolm X is very controversial figure in the history of twenty-first century, I think no one will argue about his words on education. What is more, from Socrates to Shakespeare, Plutarch to Albert Einstein, Aristotle to Henry Ford, prominent minds of human kind stressed the importance of education. Their words still linger nowadays, because education, in one way or another, will always be important for personal growth and open-mindness, a mean to succeed and build your life, and become a valuable for both oneself and the society.
Nevertheless, the complete understanding of it came to me not so long ago. I was fortunate and eager enough to achieve a lot of practical knowledge earlier in my life, so today I am running my own fully functional and effective business. In order for it to be in a current state, I separately finished two distinctive and profound courses, Accounting and Management, which provided me with fundamental knowledge, helped me to grow personally, and develop and make my own business better. Moreover, though the courses were giving more than I have expected, I spent a lot of time on self-education to read books not only related to accounting and management, but also finance and marketing; many of them were really peculiar and helpful.
After finishing the courses, I understood that it was not enough for me and the goals I have set for myself. I thought I need something more fundamental, substantial and consistent to be a dependable backbone of both my professional and personal life. I also want to be a more effective individual in my country. Moreover, in our ever-changing world, like all businesses, mine needs to learn to adapt, survive, and prosper, and it will not do it itself. It was evident that higher education is the next achievement on my list. These are the main reasons I want to apply for a graduate program in Business; and your university, in my opinion, is the best place to gain all the knowledge I need. I am a positive, fast-learning, and prolific person. I know what I want from my life, eager to grow, know more, and do the best within my powers, and beyond them. Henry Ford said anyone who keeps learning stays young, and it is an attitude I had been fostering in myself throughout all my life.
