Its about giving ipads to students!
Although innovative improvements have been made to the classrooms, there is always room for further hands-on tools. These technological tools can help to simplify the work set by the teacher and can also aid to make lessons much more interesting.
Interactive whiteboards are a truly great bonus in the classroom. These whiteboards encourage the students to interact with the teacher, with the other students, and they also help to keep them interested in their work. Many of the students today use i-phones and facebook as ways to communicate with their peers. Because of this short messaging system, many students are finding it difficult to write and spell correctly. The level of essay writing and writing in general has declined rapidly, mainly due to the problems of sms which is being used globally by millions every day. Students are not bothered to write words correctly or in whole because they are aware that they will be understood by their friends. A typical example would be cu l8er (see you later). So, why bother when you can take a convenient shortcut?
The introduction of i-pads to the classroom would be a great bonus to the teacher and students alike. Homework could be given and assessed on i-pads. Lessons could be explained on interactive whiteboards with the students taking notes on their i-pads. Using an i-pad instead of using copybooks or file paper would have the added bonus of making the students’ backpacks significantly lighter. Thanks to their knowledge of computer use, the students are competent at using a keyboard and so, would find an i-pad beneficial to their studies. Because of its being compact, the i-pad would be a student’s ideal companion.
An i-pad could be used in a typical primary school day as follows:
The students arrive at school with their i-pad containing the homework given to them by the teacher from the day before. They do not have the excuse of forgetting their homework at home because since the i-pad is essential to them they will make sure that they bring it to school with them in their bag every day. Homework is discussed and corrected with each student using his or her own i-pad.
Throughout the day lessons could be worked out on i pads and the teacher could go round the class to ensure that the students have understood and worked out the lesson.
An added plus would be that not having to use so much paper would mean that there would be more trees growing. Likewise for the use of pencils. Ultimately the use of paper and pencils will become obsolete.
