The completion of this assignment on Effective communication in the work place was informed by the specific goal of finding out the relationship between organizational communication and employee performance. The greatest problem that I was faced with was determining if the study should be qualitative or quantitative study. This was particularly important in determining which of the two kinds of research designs and methodology would be most appropriate to answer the research questions which included what is the relationship between organizational communication and employee performance for employees working on virtual teams. Whereas this study was primarily quantitative in nature with such words as comparing and relating with elements such as explore and understand which also indicated that it had some qualitative elements that needed to be addressed (Siangchokyoo & Sousa-Poza, 2012). For a quantitative study, the statistics were required to discuss the research details with a possibility of making errors from personal biasness that may be from publications that were reviewed during literature review chapter. The studies in this project were completed using open data and a qualitative study approach. Compromises from the study were more likely to lead to unclear generalizations.
Controlling and manipulating experimental variables of the study was also another major challenge when completing this assignment. The independent variable for this study was organizational employees while the dependent variable was employee performance. Generally, as a researcher, I appreciate the fact that the hypothetical results that were used for this study to accept or refute the hypotheses, should pass the scientific measurements system that is based on ratios and intervals. The natural environment through which virtual teams operate in is complex and is determined by other factors besides organizational communication for performance. With such employees beyond the control of employers, it proves difficult in deciding the best practices in controlling transmission levels (Eppinger, 2002). These challenges thus required a detailed description of the sampling strategy selected, the instrumentation, ethical standards, and measures that are used to ensure that the research is trustworthy. Successful completion of this study included a stepwise implementation of research methodology for the study which was a mixed research methodology that aimed at completing in an ethical and trustworthy manner.
When assembling the proposal section of this study, mainly I adopted trimming redundant information with some additions of transitional information between parts so as to ensure that the factors that had already been alluded to by previous researchers all appeared in the proposal sections and at the same it ensuring that its all connected for better understanding and presentation. Trimming down parts of redundant data is particularly important in ensuring that information that is in the proposal section only relates to the most recent publications in a pattern that leads to better directions and conclusions (Siangchokyoo & Sousa-Poza, 2012). It helps also narrow down to the core pieces of information that should be added to the study.
