A learning environment that is considered effective to adolescents and school-aged children is that which fosters a safe learning environment with positive relationships and clear expectations. This environment actively promotes learning, and both the tutor and the student gather information collaboratively and also they follow a systematic process of instructions to reflect on learning. Also in an effective learning environment there should be student engagement and instructional rigor, whereby these instructions are of relevance to the student. An effective learning environment I have participated in is of a classroom setting. The classroom setting was highly effective since it proved to be a setup which was conducive for students and learning was student centered. There were different varieties of methods of instructions to avoid boredom among students and also to shape the learning habits. For a learning environment to be considered effective, it has to provide quality education and should encourage relationships between teachers and students.
Within a classroom setting, a professional may create learning environments where students participate actively by nurturing their desires and motivating them. He or she should also use different methods to collect data on the students’ abilities and understanding. The professional should also encourage instructions which help students to enhance their reasoning capabilities and develop strategies in problem solving (Heick, 2012).
There are some situations that might hinder an effective learning environment within a classroom setup. For example, in public schools there are students who are just in school because they are required to and those who want learn (Meador, 2014). This may be difficult for teachers to form a relationship with them and thus passing instructions to them may hard. For an effective classroom, there should always be a relation formed between the student and the teacher as it makes it easy for the teachers to understand the students and how each can be instructed.
