Dell believes that the achievement of their goals and targets are attributed to the collective effort of its people. It is thru this mindset that one can consider outright that Dell is a company that gives high value and regard to its people and what they can contribute to the advancement of the company. In the forefront of its human resource strategy is how Dell seeks, promotes and accepts diversity in all aspects of the workplace. On top of this, Dell encourages the creation of an environment where collaboration and inclusion is top priority. It is Dell’s commitment to treat everyone with the respect that each one deserves.
Dell prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer. All hiring considerations and decisions are based on mandated business needs, requirements of the position on hand and individual qualifications. There is zero tolerance for discrimination within the company (Dell).
One initiative that Dell gives high importance to is their performance management system. The goal of their PMS, which is highly incorporated in all levels of the organization, is to inject high levels of motivation and ensure employee retention, gearing towards gaining the competitive advantage in the industry. This performance management system is composed of personal development plans, appraisals and feedback giving, training and development and rewards and recognition programs.
With Dell’s solid stand and commitment on valuing their employees, one can denote that the company’s success is highly attributed to and dependent on the continuity of its programs and policies and its effectiveness. Improvement of its current HR programs and policies, at this point in the company’s long-running success, is not necessary and warranted.
