The article released by the United States Food and Drug Administration on electronic cigarettes discusses the design of the product and the adverse impacts of smoking e-cigarettes.
Electronic cigarettes are battery operated cigarettes that contain nicotine, varied flavors, and other additional chemicals. E-cigarettes are highly addictive. According to the FDA, e-cigarettes marketed are only those with therapeutic used. The FDA also issued a rule that extend the authority of the agency to cover those products that meet the definition of a tobacco. Adverse effects of smoking e-cigarettes include pneumonia, disorientation, congestive heart failure, seizure, hypotension, and other serious health problems.
This article is very essential as a reminder to the people in making them aware that these cigarettes in whatever form is dangerous to the body. Worse, even non-smokers can be affected by smokes. Smoke from cigarettes, even in public places, can cause bronchial infections, asthmatic attacks, and other health issues in non-smokers. This is particularly true for approximately a hundred million of Americans who have chronic bronchitis, asthma, emphysema, chronic sinusitis and other conditions that affect breathing which make them vulnerable to secondhand cigarette smoke.
Apart from health risks, being forced to inhale smoke is irritating and annoying to most individuals. Society is aware that citizens have the right not to be exposed to carcinogenic substances, even in small amounts for a short period. In an attempt to provide protection to the people especially to non-smokers, various states have promulgated laws that prohibit smoking in places such as bars, restaurants, offices, and airplanes. However, there are still lots of individuals who cannot break away from secondhand smoke especially the young ones who normally take in the noxious fumes from cigars of adults at home. Whether it is an ordinary cigarette or an e-cigarette, both have the same negative impacts. Thus, cigarettes should be restricted if possible.
