Economics is one the social sciences, which focuses on evaluation of services and goods consumption, distribution, and production in a country (Rutherford, 2007). Economics is a broad category that comprises of macroeconomics (that evaluates and analyses the whole economy of a country and its issues) and microeconomics (that analyses behavior of the key elements of a country’s economy) (Singh, & Shishodia, 2007).
Emirates Airlines is one Middle East largest Airlines. The Airline prides in operating more than 2,500 flights within a week. This Airline has been the key determiner of the success of economic performance of India. This is in terms of employment of the youth and creation of other job opportunities, as well as the enhancement of the Gross Domestic Product Index of India.
Research Problem
A country’s success is measured by focusing on its economic performance among other indicators. Indian Economy has relied heavily on the contribution of Emirates Airlines (Emirates, 2012). The contribution from Emirates Airlines to Indian Economy is US$ 596 million. As such, there is a need to focus on the factors, which affect the performance of Emirates Airlines, as well as the ability of the Airline to contribute significantly towards economic growth of India. This occurs as the Airline employs 1045 employees in addition to support of 72323 jobs within the nation of India. The creation of more jobs by the Airline and hosting of a large number of employees is key issue for consideration in this research as the Airline contributes towards improved economic performance of India.
Objectives
This research is governed by the following objectives:
1. To establish the role of Emirates Airlines in the economy of India,
2. To establish the key sources of improved financial performance of the Emirates Airlines,
3. To determine the various factors, which affects the performance of the Airline, and
4. To evaluate the financial performance of Emirates Airlines and its effects in the growth and expansion of the Airline.
Research Questions
In order to achieve the aim and the above objectives, the study is governed by the following research questions:
1) What is the current financial status of Emirates Airlines?
2) What role does Emirates Airlines play in the economy of India?
3) How is the financial performance of the Airline related to the economic performance of India?
4) Which are the factors that influence the financial performance of Emirates Airlines?
5) What are the economic implications of Emirates Airlines on the GDP of India?
Research Methodology
This research is focused on using both qualitative and quantities research methods. This is aimed at ensuring that adequate data is collected to provide solutions to research questions and attain the objectives of the research. This will involve the use of questionnaires and interviews to collect primary data, and using Emirates Airlines as a case study to gather secondary data. The data, which will be obtained, will be analyzed while using discrete statistical methods. This will facilitate in obtaining information, which is related to the relationships, and patterns as depicted by the data that will be obtained.

1. A sample population for collecting data,
2. Well-formulated questionnaire and interview questions,
3. Statistical and mathematical tools for data analysis and presentation, and
4. Books and journals related to Emirates Airlines and economics for conducting effective literature review and supporting inferences from the research to be conducted.
