What I have learned
Engineering interviews are important as they determine the type of engineer an individual is, what they do best, their abilities, strengths, and even weaknesses. The interviews help the Human Resource Department to give the tasks to the most suitable candidate for the job. For the job candidates, they must ensure they research about the history of the company to know about their goals, mission, and objectives. One should familiarize with the roles and responsibilities associated with the advertised position. Also, the interview should gauge if a person understands the culture of the company, and the organization values and vision. It is mandatory to remain honest with the interviewer and express the company’s values that motivate you to work in the position. Always remember that the interviewer considers many factors before making the decision to pick the most appropriate candidate, therefore, it is always important to stay alert and avoid being vague during the interview.
Moreover, all companies want to hire candidates that passionate about the job, and the interview will ensure that it reveals the most passionate person. It is also important to note that the candidates that pinpoint how they have learned from the past mistakes appear credible to those that fail to offer specific examples. It’s hard to succeed in the field of engineering without the ability to work together as a unit to solve the developing challenges in the organization. An appropriate candidate is expected to explain how he/she will handle challenges when offered to serve in the advertised position. A good engineer will explain how he or she is motivated by challenges and how to apply the job skills and experiences to improve the efficiency of the company (Marston, 1996). Most importantly, top managers want people who explain their past achievements and how they can advance to achieve further milestones in their career.
I have also learned the importance of following a passion in the field of engineering. In my opinion, job applicants should only apply for the jobs that they like and are passionate about so as to offer their best. If one figures the best way to be him or herself. It will be easier to solve the hurdles that arise in the workplace. Another important thing that most people make a mistake in is selecting job titles rather than the job roles. The job title may fail to fulfill an individual, but one that performs the preferable job roles will always remain satisfied and find fun working on the position. An engineer must also enroll in short-term courses to improve his technical and technological skills because of the emerging trends. Getting updated helps any job applicant to land the position as compared to the less aggressive people who fails to advance their education after graduating with their first degree.
Question 2
Challenges associated with studying technology
There are numerous challenges associated with studying technology. For instance, the Internet of Things (IoT) is faced with several hurdles. Security and safety are the most common challenge that affects the internet technology. Without security, technology remains perilous to the users since private and confidential information can be accessed by an unauthorized person. IoT has a role to play to guarantee internet users that they are free from hackers, but this still has a long way to go. By 2020, it’s said that more than 26 billion devices will be connected to the internet. Therefore, stiff measures must be put into place.
Apart from security, other problems that affect the internet technology includes authentication, spam, scalable configuration management, robust scalability of the routing system, dumb network, and patch management. Currently, other emerging trends faces the internet, and this includes the growing trends in traffic and user expectations, governance, the internet provider vendor/business coordination, intellectual property and digital rights, and the time management and prioritization of tasks (Porter & Donthu, 2006). The challenges affect the operations of the internet by responsible agencies are working day and night to ensure that they come up with ways to reduce or eliminate the presenting challenges.
Does the cell phone technology functions as a means of empowerment? How does it impact the ways of socialization and what changes do you foresee in the future?
The cellphone technology functions as a means of empowerment. There is a close relationship between the uses of mobile technologies towards promoting democratic governance. In most marginalized societies, the technology can be used to promote inclusive participation, international principles, and create responsive institutions. Communication is a vital element in the society, and the cell phone technology provides individuals with the opportunity to advocate for their human rights by use of social media using their cellphones (Zambrano & Seward, 2012). Moreover, the cell phone technologies is a fundamental component towards the eradication of poverty, crisis prevention, and recovery, and even plays a role towards the conservation of environment and energy.
Cellphone influences socialization in many ways. At first, there was the notion that cellphones eased communication as people could socialize despite the geographical barriers. Cell phones help people to be focused on what happens in their lives and also to those people who are close to them, thus promoting socialization. Sadly, things have started to change as it is becoming hard for people to make real friends. Instead, many people are socialization through online media, and this continues to affect the way of interaction in the society. In the future, I expect the innovators to advance the gadgets to make human life easier with the use of cell phone technology. I see the world where people will access all their needs including medication via the use of mobile technology.
