My impression is that the effort of USA towards the protection of the environment is not a bad thing, but it should be carried out in moderation. There are many people who accuse the environmental regulations for negatively impacting on the US economy. These people assume that efforts to protect the environment incur large costs. These costs need to be well defined so that people may stop making assumptions, and dismissing the idea of protecting the environment.
The money spent in protecting the environment is worth if the benefits outweighs the costs. Protection of the environment is a good investment for the future. The regulations on environmental protection in the US mostly lead to positive benefits. There are times when the costs are larger than the benefits. The overall effect is that the benefits are more than the costs. Therefore, the regulations on environmental protection should be implemented.
The US economy is still very competitive globally. The US citizens do not run to other countries in search of jobs due to lack of jobs in their own country. The environmental activities provide job opportunities for people. Businesses venture into other countries so as to market themselves globally, and not the common assumption that they are running away.
The efforts made by the US to protect the environment do not lead to negative effects as is commonly assumed by many people. The people assume that focus on environment protection leads to poor economies because they are not well informed about the benefits that accrue from such efforts. There is need to inform people of the exact costs incurred on protection of the environment, and the benefits arising from such an investment. People need to be informed about the details of environmental protection so that they can appreciate and support the program.
