It is midsummer now, Africa is suffering from the drought. Its BIODIVERSITY is under the threat of being killed by the severe fire of the sun. African ECOSYSTEM has been adapting to the hard natural conditions, but the fight is not over. Flora and fauna of this region are striving to survive in such aggressive environment. Africa is the place of the unique wildlife. It is a HABITAT for thousands of plants and animals. Nevertheless, every year the POPULATION is rapidly decreasing.
One day Lion was walking to the watering place. The sun was shining so bright and the air was so hot, that he thought the water could disappear in few days, they could become ENDANGERED SPECIES. Lion met his big family at the pond and they all started discussing the weather. Lion was the leader of his COMMUNITY, so everyone was asking him how to go through such drought. All the animals believed that their BIOME couldn’t survive. Everyone was afraid that many other animals could become EXTINCT.
-If we do not have water, we will die. It is hardly we will have any ADAPTATION to such drought. It is too hot! - said Grandma Lion.
-Oh, don’t exaggerate, granny! I’ve heard it is possible to get the ACCLIMATION so there is nothing dangerous to us,- answered Lenny. – We should accept the experience of other SPECIES. They trick is that we should turn our DIURNAL lifestyle into NOCTURNAL. The entire BIOTIC world is doing so!
- Lenny is right. We should be active at nighttime, when there is no sun. At the daytime I strongly recommend you to hide in your niches, - recommended Lion.
- I think we can be in SYMBIOSIS with other species, - suggested Grandfather Lion.- We can make a schedule for the access to the watering place and define the amount of water everyone could have per day. Thus, we could save some water till the rain starts.
- We are a family and only with the united efforts we could survive! - Lion noticed.
Since then animals created a special approach that helped them to save water for a longer period of time. They also created a mechanism that poured water to the ABIOTIC parts of their community. During drought many animals became THREATENED SPECIES but they united their efforts and survived.
In a few weeks the rain period started.
