Summery
In this context, the episode of choice and review captured on Trail of Tears which comes third in the order of sequence. In this episode, The Cherokee describes the scenario as NU NO DU NA TLO HI LU. This description when translated becomes “The Trail somewhat they all cried”. The movie brings about a scene where back in May 1838; the federal troops evicted a great number of Cherokee right from their homes. This incident took place in the southern US from where the Cherokee were driven away towards the Eastern Oklahoma in the Indian Territory. In this dispensation, about 4000 people succumbed to vast number of diseases and through starvation. The Cherokee in the beginning opposed their eviction but could not overcome pressure from the federal troops. Eventually, the Cherokee were forced to change their religious beliefs and embrace civilization. They had no choice but to build new state of life in Oklahoma.
Reaction and Response
Based on this episode, it can be realized that the federal troops have a character of heartlessness. In this case, the style and manner through which they forcefully evicted the Cherokee did not show any respect for human life. In fact, the elderly Cherokee were ill treated than they deserved. The forceful incorporation of a new culture into the Cherokee people was also quite unfair. Setting for instance, the ideology behind the incorporation of new religious beliefs amongst the people who for a long time have embraced their beliefs elsewhere does not soberly sound. Even though the advent of civilization could have had long term positive effects on the Cherokee, a lot can be ill fated based on the foundational culture.
