Racial profiling is a challenge that has troubled many nations for a very long time, and the United States of America being one of the most affected. The problem is visible by the private security and law enforcement agent’s targeting people of color for humiliation, interrogations, detentions, and search with no evidence of any criminal act. All the discriminations are because of national origin, race, religion, or ethnicity. The act of racial profiling is illegal and violates the Constitution of USA since all people are promised same treatment and protection, and this has made the law enforcers and police to take the initiative of ending the problem.
The End Racial Profiling Act has been in existence for a while, but it has not been very effective because the people who are involved in the menace are the ones tasked with ensuring it is brought to an end. Police are supposed to ensure there is road safety, but this is not well implemented because they target the African American mostly. Profiling is evident with a report showing that there have been about 72% traffic stops focused on Blacks in the Northeast, yet the African American who drive are just 17% of the total population (Thomsen, 2010). This is a clear sign that the law enforcers do not protect the blacks but discriminate them, by associating them with crime life.
The issue of racial profiling is continuing because the law enforcers and police department perceive the blacks to be involved in crimes and other forms of wrongs. There is the need to curve the problem by ensuring those involved in the law office are sensitized on racial equality and anybody found to violate the rights of the people of any race should be prosecuted. With the set plans being implemented entirely, there will be fairness among all people and racial profiling will end.
