The Islam religion is said to have started during the 6th century A.D. and was founded by its first prophet, Muhammad. When Muhammad was 40 years old, he had an encounter with the Angel Gabriel while he was on a retreat. The angel instructed him to read a certain book which lead to him sharing the contents of it to his family and friends, eventually to groups of people. One of his main goals was to stop violence and the spread of the barbaric cults which were rapidly growing at that time. However, his ideals were rejected and he was forced to flee to the neighboring city, Medina where the Islamic era began. Muslims believe in Allah (the Islam God), not in Muhammad, for they treat him as the messenger/spokesperson of Allah. The messages which Muhammad passed on to the people were recorded in the Qu’ran, which is the name of the Islamic Scripture written in Arabic.
Christianity on Sin and Salvation
Sin can be considered as the human problem for Christianity. An act or a state of being can be considered sinful if it defies the words and teachings of God. Committing sin may not only cause suffering during your lifespan, it can also extend to the afterlife where the amount of sin committed is then tantamount to spending eternity in hell. This is where salvation comes into the picture. Through the teachings in the Bible (the Holy Scripture for Christianity), it is stated how Jesus (the messiah) went through life, death, and resurrection. The key word here is resurrection because it represents the atonement of sins, which we know in this context as salvation. It provides the followers a sense of hope that despite making mistakes (sins) during their lives, there is a chance for renewal and forgiveness which alleviates the possibility of spending the eternity of after-life in hell.
