The film shows that in year 2805, the earth will be filled with garbage due to mass consumption of variety of products promoted by Buy ‘n’ Large (BnL) a mega corporation. BnL decided to clean earth by transferring population to automated starliners and allocating responsibility of cleaning to Wall-E robots. Analysis
Empathy is one of main common themes of both the movies. Love, feelings, compassion and emotions segregate machines from humans and this fact has been reiterated at times in both the movies. Rick Deckard’s life is spared by replicants Roy Batty and Rachael in Blade Runner. Rick Deckard expresses his surprise in these words, “I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life anybody's life my life” (Ford et al.).

There is no portrayal of families and human emotions in movies ‘Blade Runner’ and Wall-E.
Though humans are portrayed in the ‘Blade Runner’ but lack of lighter moments and portrayal of families make the movie as gloomy. ‘Wall-E’ portrays robots and there is no portrayal of laughter and humans in the movie. Technology is one of the main themes in both the movies and both of them are for a specific category of audience. ‘Wall-E’ got enormous predilection of children however ‘Blade Runner’ earned a huge support from all class of audiences.
Humans have been portrayed as fighting for their sustenance and they appear victorious at the end of the day. ‘Blade Runner’ gives a message that hunting replicants is not the ideal solution to deal with them and a reasonable solution must be churned out to deal with such threats to humans. Wall-E, on the other hand, suggests the humanity that in order to ensure our continuous existence, humans should stand and realize our mistakes instead of escaping from the reality. The movie suggests that turning eye from real life threats is not in the interest of humanity on the planet earth (Woollaston).
‘Blade Runner’ portrays few individuals who are making efforts for saving the humanity. ‘Wall-E’ has a bigger horizon and presents the idea of saving humanity from extermination from the planet earth. Both these movies appear suggesting human beings that they should not be dependent on the technology that they become unable to save themselves when technology backfires at them. ‘Blade Runner’ presents its ideas in a comparatively serious manner while Wall-E presents these ideas in a comic manner. Animated version of Wall-E is one of reasons that give it a comic nature.
