Snapchat is a particularly new application that has been worked out for the smartphones. This application is based on a short-term storage of photographs-snaps. It is considered to be a kind of the social network of this year for many people as they have an opportunity to exchange the information there, share photos, and make many other interesting things offered by the smart application. The basic idea of this application is very simple (maybe this simplicity made this application so popular). However, it is not so simple as we could suggest at the first glance. Today millions of people from the whole world use Snap chat. Of course, such a great success is not an accidental one, and the world of marketing and advertisement is interested in this issue and is trying to understand the secret of this success and a great development of the application in the whole world. In this paper, we are going to consider Snap chat as a part of modern culture.
Thus, Snapchat represents an application for smartphones. The idea of this chat is to provide people with the opportunity to make different appearances of themselves with the help of photo and video, and they exchange these files like they do in the social networks. However, in several seconds these files are self-destructed if they are not saved to the device. Later it is impossible to to send the photos and videos that have been made or that have been already sent before. The only way to share the file is to send it immediately. There are already many definitions of the application Snapchat, however, for this paper the most appropriate one was selected. Thus, Snapchat is considered to be a network or an ephemeral exchange accomplished by one hundred million customers, mostly young people. Today Snap chat even compete with Facebook (Karp).
The core objective of Snapchat was to allow its customers to send the files (photo or video documents) that in everyday life they will not send to anyone. Besides, the user4s also have an opportunity to write a message under the photo or video they send. Those people who use the application should not worry regarding the compromising videos or photos and to send what they want. The receiver can not predict what he will get the next moment because the opportunities of the application are renewed every day (Ryan). It makes Snap chat so special and unpredictable, and, as a result, so popular among youth.
The target audience of the application is mostly teenagers as it is simpler for them to share emotions and information with other people through it. It will not be a surprise if we say that in our time face-to-face communication is considerably reduced and it became difficult for teenagers to express themselves in such a manner they would like to. Snap chat provides them with such an opportunity, and teenagers may create different images and appearances for themselves.
Another important issue that may be associated with the success of this new application is a reduced activity of the youth in Facebook due to the lack of anonymity. Snap chat can be used by parents, teachers, sisters, and brothers, but it is suggested to be a rare phenomenon. Besides, Instagram or, for example, Twitter provide a public access to the content even not just for the people to whom they intended, everyone has an opportunity to see the private information. On the other hand, the videos or photos from Snapchat will be got just by that person for whom they have been created (Lagorio-Chafkin).
A wide spread of the Snapchat is a result of security provided by the application as nowadays younger generation does not want to share some information with the senior generation, and this application is the best way to establish some secret, particularly new, and unknown platform. Another important reason why Snapchat is so popular among the teenaf=gers is the fact that they prefer to use less text. Today three is a great number of various smiles and applications that can substitute almost every word. Snapchat allows its users to reduce the number of words, and to express their emotions, wishes and desires with the help of photos and videos. Generally, the Snapchat is a kind of social network that contradicts all the existing services people used to such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
According to the investigation that was held in 2015 by the GlobalWebIndex analytical company, the confidentiality is the least vital reason for which people use Snapchat though it historically was the core characteristic of the service. It was mentioned just by thirty percent of the users who participated in the investigation, however, sixty-nine percent preferred to answer that it was funny and amusing (Mander). According to another research based on the comparative information on the level of users' satisfaction of using the various forms of electronic communication. Snapchat showed unexpectedly great results as well as the other social networks. It was proved that the success of the application lies in its great service to lighten the mood of the users, providing them with the feeling of happiness.
