The documentary is a standard depiction of the life of Andrew Jackson that carefully follows in his footsteps as he rises from a humble background to become one of the most influential people in the world, through his ascent to the American presidency (Andrew Jackson - Good Evil & the Presidency - PBS Documentary 1). The biography is a recreation of the life of Jackson with most of the focus on Jackson’s life behaviors while providing all the vital details including his relationship with his beloved wife, Racheal.
Jackson had very diverse and critical views on various policy issues on Native Americans. Jackson was inconsiderate in the treatment of Native Americans as he led to their relocation and set the tone for the side he took on Indian affairs. The Indian removal act was scheduled to help in the opening up of those lands that were still under the jurisdiction of the Indians (President Andrew Jackson's Message to Congress 'On Indian Removal' (1830) 1). The move was to aid in the opening up of lands for the settlement of United States citizens. In the movie this is shown through his actions where he illustrates ungratefulness in his actions as he forcibly evicts the Native Cherokees from their land. As President as he portrays himself as their ‘Great Father’ while defying court orders to annex their land (Andrew Jackson - Good Evil & the Presidency - PBS Documentary 1).
Andrew Jackson views on the national bank were that there needed to be massive changes on the national bank including re-chattering of the bank. This was done to reduce the bank's powers. This set him on a collision course with the Republicans and the President of the National Bank of the United States (The War against the Bank 1). He was triumphant in his efforts to change the bank. His efforts against the National Bank are depicted in the movie through campaigns and stopping of the secession crisis (Andrew Jackson - Good Evil & the Presidency - PBS Documentary). The views of Jackson are clearly illustrated in the documentary that characterizes his life to the presidency and his actions.
