Yes, I am able to identify the cultural framework I move in. My cultural framework is guided by a value system in which I believe that the role of a teacher in a early children classroom is not only to educate the children but also to pass helpful values of the children.
I have a wide scope of understanding of my identity aspects. This acknowledgement is developed from the wide aspect of observations and experiences that I have had with early childhood classrooms. It is important since I have acquired the ability of bringing together aspects of different classes, gender, religion and races within an early childhood classroom.
The instructors or teachers use an approach whereby the curriculum is devoid of various forms of prejudices such as homophobia, racism, sexism as well as aspects of ability and disability. The main purpose of the anti-bias curriculum is to essentially eliminate any form of social bias in the classroom and reduce its adverse effects.
The instructors or teachers set the language and conduct in their respective classrooms through the appreciation of all diversities existing among the students. This is a simple and sure way of fostering acceptance among the students.
In my opinion, the issue of generalization is one of the main hindrances in supporting the relationship between families and classroom setting. Therefore, it is prudent for teachers to establish and recognize the variations in cultural values in a bid to achieve harmony in commonality of humankind. Status bias could also emerge from the variations in value considerations in these two settings.
It is important for different ethnic and linguistic groups to share the notational assumptions prior engagement. This will enable all stakeholders in the curriculum to embrace critical bias control systems that are accommodative of all cultural aspects.
