The article is focused on providing knowledge about educational research in specific disciplines and the quality of lesson learnt on carrying out these researches. However, the author is concerned about researches conducted in business schools and the learning that happen in these institutions. Thus, the argument in this article is that a proper in depth research must be conducted in business schools in order to find out the quality of learning in these institutions. However, it is vital that the learning environment is considered in this study since we have variety of disciplines under the business schools. It is also prudent to note that we have online learning under these business schools. Therefore this might impact greatly on the quality of learning.
In the article business schools are thought to be distinct collective entities with a diversified learning environment based on the variety of disciplines offered under business school. According to the study these attributes of the business school makes it more appropriate for conducting academic research. However, it is worth noting that we also have other educational schools which might present better learning environments more than the business school. For instance, the humanities and arts would probably offer a number of learning disciplines as opposed to the business school. Hence, it would be important that the researcher also uses other educational categories to conduct the learning research so as to arrive at the most appropriate inferences.
It is also evident that it would be difficult for persons in the business schools to publish literature based on their learning process. For instance, it would be difficult for individuals to produce literature on accounting or finance. Thus, this would be a hurdle in revealing the quality of learning in business schools. This is influenced by the fact that individuals in business schools are bound to follow given guidelines and procedures (Ray, 2011). Therefore, one cannot apply his own procedures in learning. However, in management or arts school people are free to produce their own literature about things learnt in school. Hence, it would be easier to measure the amount and quality of learning in such schools.
As a result of the multidisciplinary nature of the business school it would be prudent if the methodological approach undertaken in conducting the learning researches is altered. This would be helpful in ensuring that these researches are able to acquire the relevant knowledge with regards to the research problem. For instance, the sample taken in learning researches must be designed such a way that it covers the various disciplines which are operation in the given school. For instance, this research should also be in a position to deal with online learning in business schools (Arbaugh, 2010). This helps to realize the overall quality of learning in all means provided by the school.
In conclusion, the article promotes educational research which would help in understanding the quality of learning and more specifically in the business schools. However, it is important if the study would also be done to other types of educational disciplines. This is s because business schools have some bottlenecks which would compromise the success and reliability of such researches. For instance, business schools are multidisciplinary and yet people would not come up with their own literature about these studies. Hence, there would be no any originality in this learning. The methodology of arriving at the research inferences for most business schools is also wanting and thus it would be significant to apply a better method of research.
