The term charisma has been widely used since 1950s, with various meanings. It is mostly used in the media, religion, as well as social science. Globally, many personalities have been associated with charisma and charismatic movement. In fact, charisma has been studied in various ways, for example, it has been studied as a set of behavior and as a trait (Benton, 2005). Therefore, charisma refers to a divinely granted power of gift; in this case, has a logic meaning, which includes compelling charm that can directly or indirectly inspire other people. Additionally, charisma can refer to personal quality or spiritual power, which enables individuals to influence many people (Mortensen, 2010).
There are various conceptions about charisma in society. One of the conceptions is on the leadership abilities, which include leadership behaviors and traits. In this perspective of leadership as per attribution theory, conception of charisma has the leadership power to facilitate a condition and influence processes among many people (Lang, 1999). Another conception of charisma is self-concept, whereby individuals have the power to empower others, and articulate various appealing vision. Other conceptions of charisma include close and distant charisma, routinization charisma, social contagion, as well as psychodynamic processes.
In society, there are several experiences and examples of charisma. Charismatic people are have unique powers that enable them to influence very many people. Some of the charismatic leaders in the world include Hitler. Based on spiritual contest of charisma, charismatic individuals speak in tongues, this means speaking in a unique langue that other people do not understand. Perhaps, the issue of falling out and being slain in the spiritual powers is another example of charisma (Benton, 2005).
Generally, people have a different definition of charisma. According to others, charisma is a sort of extraordinary power that inspires adoration and confidence among people. Moreover, charisma is one of the special thought and virtue of function, office and position that present on individuals holding unique leadership ability. Charisma focuses on abilities such as unconventional, visionary, exemplary as well as energetic.
