Concept of justice
If there is one thing that deserves credit in the existence of mankind is the presence of a woman. Though they are neglected, abused and discriminated, they are the ones who hold the earth together. In Greek for example; antigone, Lysistrata and Odyssey were well nurtured and they stand out above their heads to be noticed as women of high integrity, determined to do their duties and uphold the moral principles of ancient woman. They always fight for there rights and demand justice in every action (Sophocles 665). Justice is an act of bringing people together in a community where there is varied interest and values. There are natural and man made rules that govern the any gathering or organization. Justice in our contemporary society is universal. Because mankind cannot exist mutually in peaceful coexistence; Antigone argued that there must be a binding force to keep humanity and to safeguard the natural rule of law (Homer 290).
First and foremost, without power, the world would be in a state of disarray. But also excessive power is doom. There should be a balance between peace, unity and power. These factors are majorly in the minds of politicians, they want to lead but how will they lead? This is the question that all the politicians should be asked and if one does not have these factors in mind then there is no point of him/her leading the people. Laws, rules and regulations that are just should be in place for any nation with long term objectives. Those in authority should be fair always to their subject. No discrimination in relation to one’s religion, race, ethnic, education or social background (Aristophanes 665). Justice was meant to unite all people but in a world dominated by men, women were only considered as a helper and should not be involved in any major decision making. Antigone, as the kingpin of her family disobeyed this theory and defended the roles of women as a whole (Sophocles 633).
In addition, it’s only God who can judge our earthly deeds. He is the only one who cannot sin therefore He knows what is just or wrong. There are God’s laws that when we break, we have definitely sin against God (1 John 3:4). God’s laws are and will always be the greatest laws on earth. If one breaks these laws it’s only God who knows and the punishment is a must unless one repents and ask for forgiveness (Genesis 5:9). In the present time, with the introduction of education there are those who have gone through various studies like law who are able to investigate and tell who is wrong. This is based on the laws, rules and regulations set up by the government. This people are also not totally trusted because they can be biased and when they make out on a ruling they favor one side and since there is no instrument for measuring the amount of wrongs, this may end up causing conflicts and hatred in the community (Aristophanes 657). It is with profound knowledge that our society today is faced with high cases of crimes and the only person in charge for handling such cases is the government. Regardless of how much we try to deliver justice, we can never be perfect. If we look at the past crimes that are always ruled in our courts, one can easily realize that the law is meant for the poor and the minority The rich always buy there freedom and left the poor to languish in prison for the crimes that they never committed (Aristophanes 680).
Consequently, injustices are brought about by so many factors ranging from individual’s gains to government interests. For instance, the lawyers who are bestowed with the work of administering justice are the ones who are majorly involved in corruption cases. They take bribes and misuse their powers by implicating the don’t haves and sending them to prison for crimes they never committed. Justice is also not served due to the negligence by the police to take accurate evidence thus court ruling is not always fair, leading to justice not being served (Homer 416) Some other situations like false witnesses/confession, misinterpretation of information by eye witness, forensic science misconduct and limited sources of information are other factors that contribute to undue ruling by our courts and if the trend continues this way the sense of humanity will never be realized (Sophocles 667). Justice can only be served if our lawyers and the government put in place strict measures to curb this vice and win public trust. International organization should also come up with new technology of overseeing justice in general. A special case where justice was served is the court ruling of Salman Khan who was sentenced for 5 years and to pay a fine of 25,000 shillings (Kaul K. 2007). The judge taking this case acted professionally and thus justice was delivered.
In conclusion, in our modern society, we can’t no longer believe or trust anyone. Truths are far much gone and it’s difficult to accuse who is right or wrong. This phenomenon only rests on the individual since the person condemned knows exactly what happened. The outsiders or those in power only try to brings events and activities and compare them if there is any connection relating to the wrong done. The wrongs are always punishable under the laws as a way of correction and justice is always praised as an encouragement (Homer 312). Cultures and religion also plays an important role in that it cultivates into ones sense from childhood some practices that are considered right or wrong. That is there are usually basic activities like defiling a minor that are never accepted in the society, the community have a say on such to dictate that that is wrong. Otherwise no one can actually prove what is just (Sophocles 646).
