The two atoms drifted toward one another, slowly and randomly at first, then with more urgency. The closer they became, ironically, the faster they flew. There were other atoms floating around this void, but an unseen force propelled these two at rates of speed that surprised both of them. Other atoms had made contact with one another, but at far lower rates of speed. The sheer speed made both of them glow a bright gold, although it was only a gold that you would have been able to see under a microscope.
When the atoms met, their speed created a violent shock that filled all of the space in this boundless void. All of the other atoms vaporized, and as the ringing aftershocks flew farther and farther away from the point of intersection, particles began to bond, growing larger and larger, forming back into atoms, then molecules, then bonding into large solids and even larger gaseous objects. The solids began to revolve around the higher-gravity gaseous objects, and began to join with one another to make larger masses. The orbit paths of these solids were extremely irregular at first, but as the particles found homes, there was less random mass waiting to attach itself to a waiting protoplanet. As the planets formed, the molecules that had become basic cells on those planets tried their best to form themselves into life forms. On the vast majority of planets, of course, these cells quickly died, because of the inhospitable conditions. On a few, though, they coalesced into larger forms, evolving over the next centuries into the first sentient life forms. Separating into gender, the most advanced of these forms, which took the longest to evolve, began to take ownership of the worlds where the environmental conditions permitted it. The progress of the species wrought great wonders – but also great tragedy. The story of this species was the battle that the forces of tragedy wrought to drown out the wonder. The unseen force that had put the atoms in place would, at times, work to bless the species as best as it could; in general, the blessings were more than enough to leave the forces of tragedy defeated, as long as those members of the species that the force wanted to bless demonstrated enough faith to perceive the blessings.
God is the force that put the atoms in place. He is the Creator of all things, in the sense that he set all forces in motion. He also founded all of the processes of nature. To be human is to be the steward of all that God has put in place for us. Humans are to take care of nature, as it is their sustaining environment. Evil is that which is against God’s will and violates his sense of good. To sin is to take part in that evil.
