Unlikely Heroes
The Fearful Man Named Gideon (Judges 6,7)
When Israel nation were persecuted my Midianites for 7 years, Jews had reminded that if they turn back to God, that he will save them. And God did. He sends his angel with the words to the man whose name was Gideon. The world “fearful” can have several meanings in this text. Firstly, we can see the hero who was afraid of God and because of that he did, everything that God told him to do. And on the other hand we can see the man who was afraid to do all the things that God had commanded to him. The Baal idol was destroyed in the nighttime (it seems that he thought that people will not find out that he did this, but it seems that that was something obvious). And even when God spoke to him, he was asking for evidence that he will crash the Midianites with his hand.
How his trust in God mad him different (Hebrews 11:33)
He believed in Gods promises. And we can surely see that this man had given his life to God in the full sense, because who other would go against many thousand armies “The Midianites, the Amalekites and all the other eastern peoples had settled in the valley, thick as locusts. Their camels could no more be counted than the sand on the seashore” (Judges 7:12), with just 300 men? So indeed, god had taken the sinful fear from this man, and gave him braveness against this world and righteous fear of God.
The Feeble Man Named Barak Judges (4:1-24 Judges 5:2-31)
Again the Israel were captured under other nation, due to theirs sin fall. And what can we see. The woman who was speaking with the word of God says to the Barak that it is time for him to become a leader of 10 000 Jews army against another army, and she says that God will give them victory. Barak followed command of God, and he did headed the army, but he did this, only because Deborah, the prophetess, came with him. Without her, he would not do this. Week faith of human who was chosen by God to become a hero of Israel. Even so, it is interesting to see that God is giving one more amazing victory to the Israel.
The Life and Legacy of Sampson (Judges 16:28)
The unfearful man who was killing lions with only his hands. He was strong as any human of that time (or even this time). The life of Sampson is the true story of how sinful human nature was dealing with the gift of God. We all know that wife can be as blessing for the man, so the wife can be a curse. Unfortunately, we have 2nd variant here. Moreover, we do not know if God had injured Sampson’s mind, or he was in love so hard, that he had not done nothing with here after he was captured so many times after he told here where his power is. In addition, we can see that Sampson was used here as the instrument of revenge for philistines. And when they had shaved him, and when they had taken him to their palace, he asks God for one more minute of power, and he destroys that building (that was unimaginable big, if there were 4000 people on the roof) with all leaders of philistines.
The Falling Man Named David (Hebrews 11:32)
The great leaders who had problems because of weak hearts and week faith in a mix with great responsibilities that were given to them by God. They were taken in the time of despair, and they did what God command them to do, even with some problems, but there were no one who would be Ideal except of Jesus.
Let me tell you of my situation (II Samuel 11)
The life of the great King. What is happening with people who can have everything? King, in whose hands are heads of his enemies and their wife’s? But this is what happened when week heart is undertaken by devil and sin. When arrogant human being forgets who gave all the power around to him. So it was 1000 years ago, so it is now. David had fallen in his faith, and he had used his power not for the good, not to please God, but to pleasure himself.
Let me tell you further of my sermon II Samuel 12
David failed, and so did his followers. And because of that the whole Israel were cursed because they again got away from God. “Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbor, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.” (2nd Samuel 11-12) . One more hero had failed because he was just sinful human being.
Psalms 51 Let me tell you finally of my sin
God is providing us with everything that we need. He is giving to us through his blessing power to change something. And when he is giving us the power we should remember that we must use it only the way that God want us to use it. The temptations will be great, because devil never sleeps, and we are sinful human beings from the beginning of our lives, and we will be like this till the end of our days. We shall not be surprised because of every not smart things that people are doing around, because there is no perfect man, except for Jesus Christ.
Can God Really Use Me I Corinthians 1:26-29
God is using us in our daily lives. For as we are Christians we should keep faith in God and we should try to make as many people to follow him because this is how God can use me, and everyone else. He does not need from me anything tangible, but only to obey him. And this is great because without obeying him, without following his paths and without proclaiming his name we would die in eternal hell. And what is the reason for us not to do that? The world is full of sin, that is eating human hearts, and this will be ended only when Jesus will come back to the earth, and before that “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15).
