Angular unconformity
Angular unconformity refers to unconformity in which an older pack up of sediments has been inclined and trimmed by erosion and a younger pack up of sediments is placed on the erosion surface. It occurs after a tectonic event that transforms the position of the bedding prior to another process of sedimentation.
Phanerozoic
The phanerozoic is the latest eon in geology that begun about 500 million years ago and incorporates the palaeozoic era, the Mesozoic period, and the Cenozoic age. It reflects an era of visible life in which large organisms that can be seen, appeared in large amounts.
Law of superposition
The law of superposition is a general law that posits that in the event of various earth layers which have not been overturned, the oldest layers remain at the bottom while the youngest emerge at the top succession.
Index fossils
Index fossils or guide fossils are remnants of an organism which existed in a certain geologic period which are usually used to identify and date the rock layer in which it occurs. A good index fossil need to be distinct, extensive, abundant and scarce in geologic time.
Eukaryotes
Eukaryotes are organisms whose cells are consisted of a nucleus and organelles which are bound by a membrane and have their cells and genetic materials prearranged into chromosomes.
Supercontinent cycle
A supercontinent cycle refers to a cycle that lasts up to 500 million years and entails the quasi period accumulation and scattering of the continental layer of the earth' surface.
