Determination Essay: Determination As A Key To Success

According to the United States Census Bureau there are almost seven billion people on our planet. Each and every person is unique, with his own habits, likes, dislikes, with his own character. Even though sometimes people may be similar to each other, they are absolutely different – their characters are absolutely unique. I am not an exception – I am also unique the way I am. Some people consider me boring, other hilarious; some people think I am too smart, other laugh at my ignorance – many men, many minds.
It is really hard to speak about your bad traits of character, as very seldom people can be objective and critical to themselves; however, when it comes to the strongest trait of character, I will not even hesitate. Since I was young, I never wanted to have a failure in life, I make an effort to always succeed can say one of my trait is determination. That’s the very trait of character, which identifies me as personality, and I am more than convinced that but for this very trait I would not have achieved everything I have now.
It was my elementary school when our teacher announced about a school concert. Our class was about to present any performance. The teacher did not want to push us, so she asked all the pupils whether they were interested to show up at the school concert. However, teacher’s request was followed by deadly silence. It was that very moment when I first expressed my determination – despite the fact that I was neither a musician nor a dancer, I raised a hand. Finally, that very performance was far from ingenious ones, however, I realized that not only does determination give a feeling of victory, but it also helps to overcome inner fears.
Since then everything I do, I do it with determination and a strong desire to win. It is determination which helped me finish school with honors and it is also determination, which helped me choose my future profession. My parents wanted me to study psychology (please choose if it is not true), however, since my early childhood I have wanted to be involved into medicine. Despite the fact that my parent were deeply against my choice, I was more than determined about what I would do in my future, and I won. I have always been a very stubborn and determined person, so even parents’ authority combined with their experience did not make me abandon my choice.
Moreover, determination helps me to push myself in the world of men, I literally have to ‘elbow my way’ to the desired result. I have understood that despite the fact that women in the world have become stronger, stereotypes, especially at work, are still present. As a result, a woman is considered to be weak, more vulnerable and persistent than men. Once we were asked to work in groups on a project at college. Our professor picked up the groups as well as its leader himself; however, I was absolutely against his choice as our leader had been spotted to have such characteristics as unreliability and softness. With my trait of character I have proved at first to my group mate, and then to professor that I am not only a person that can be trusted or relied on, but also a person who can carry out serious projects. Thus, due to determination I have managed to get that project and once again prove myself and others that I am ‘die hard’.
Determination is indispensible in daily life; however, sometimes it can be rather deceptive. If a person wants to reach success, he has to be determined, though it is also very important to take a sensible look at the situation, estimate it, and only then turn to actions. I am a real winner, and I strive to succeed, so I am convinced that determination does not but helps me be the way I am.
