Economic and Social Justice
Economic and Social Justice
In the current case study, the subject or victim is ‘Angela’, who is working in the pharmaceutical company. The current case study relates to the social and economic rights of the victims and survivors of sexual abuse and trauma. The main focus of this case study is to identify the ‘rights’ of the survivors of sexual abuse and trauma at work and society. In the case of Angela, the main social issue is that she was the victim of sexual abuse in her childhood by her father and this abuse continues till the age of twenty one. Moreover, during her high school, she was sexually abused by her classmate at the age of fourteen. The home environment of Angela was not very good and full of stress. All these psychological and physical abuses reduced the level of confidence in Angela and increased the level of stress. Ultimately, she suffered from different stress problems, weight issues and trauma. Furthermore, trauma caused her another stress disorder called post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These problems developed character building problems in the Angela at work and her other social dealings. These issues are also causing problems to the Angela to make new friends and public relations at work, which are important for her professional growth. (Defining Economic Justice and Social Justice)
The sociologists, economists and the psychologists can address the issue to their clients and victims regarding sexual abuse or stress. The first strategy is to make good relation with the client or the victim, so that the client can speak clearly and openly regarding the problems he is having at work. Most of the cases of sexual abuse can be handled with extra cautions from the victim. In the case of Angela, she was the victim of sexual abuse till the age of twenty one and she consulted the counseling at the age of twenty seven. Therefore, the strategy to rebuild her confidence again, she must join the course recommended by the counselor. Secondly, the counselor must address her that she must live with her family or at least with her mother. Living alone is creating loneliness and stress in her and that is why she is hurting herself at home and work. Moreover, such behavior will create problems for her at her job. (Tremblay, Hébert & Piché, 1999)
These strategies will develop positive impacts on the behavior and character of the client effectively. Firstly, the joining of the rehabilitation program recommended to the client will give him the confidence to speak about the problems. The other individuals in the rehabilitation program will share their experience and support each other socially and morally, which will ultimately boost their confidence. Moreover, the responsible of the program must develop friendly relations with the victims to enhance the confidence level of the victims. (Tremblay, Hébert & Piché, 1999)
The second strategy for such clients is, to ask a workplace mentor or their team leader at work to assign important tasks to them. It is the responsibility of the workplace mentor to provide the best working environment for the victims of sexual abuse and stress. The team leaders must ask from the victims about their views on the behavior of other staff members with them regularly. It is very important to give the authority and the power to the victims of sexual abuse and stress on the job to increase the level of confidence. (Tremblay, Hébert & Piché, 1999)
