Introduction
Leadership is a combination of art, science and human nature. Effective leadership is essential for any organization and school to be successful. We all have the capacity to lead. It is through leadership that we become catalysts for positive change. The perfect counter balance between moral, business and social aspects of leadership is effective leadership.
“New Approaches to Effective Leadership: Cognitive Resources and Organizational Performance takes us another important step toward understanding what enables leaders to develop successful organizations” (Fiedler, F. E., & Garcia, J. E., 1987)
Qualities of an Effective leader
The effective leader is commonly referred as those, who can be counted as an example where the other people can follow their path. Being honest, a quality that an effective leader should have, gives the credibility for those concerned individual and results in other people’s belief and trust. “Everything rises and falls on leadership. And leadership truly develops from inside out” (Maxwell, J., 2007). A leader has to have all those qualities, which can inspire others to follow him. The virtues like integrity, sociability, intelligence, determination and self confidence makes a person an effective leader. A leader is cultivated and trimmed to instil the effective values and qualities in them as they are the future. (Owens, R. G., 1995)
Conclusion
An effective leader gives positive reinforcement. All the effective leaders will have most of the similar qualities. Learn the skills and making an effort to practising it, takes to be an effective leader. Effective leadership is not about commanding them but about requesting or asking a person to do something with their pleasing manners. “People's implied theories of leadership are likely to be more transformational than transactional”. (Bass, B. M., & Steidlmeier, P.1999) The moral character of the leader should be strong and should have high ethical values.
