A vivid example of a professional fire while enjoying massive benefits even without the required documents is Richard Clark. Clark ranked high in the field of IT for a long time since he was in high school. Despite his prowess in the field, he did not have any papers backing the allegations made in his resume. His cat and mouse chase ended when at the request of Coopers and Lybrand that he partners with them, Richard Clark could not produce his papers.
All professionals in whatever field should adhere to the basic requirements to serve in a particular field. Productivity in any field relies on how capable the employee is in applying skills acquired during training and workplace experience. It will be unfortunate for a professor to take up duties of lecturing in the field he is not certified to handle. It is, therefore, unethical for a person without Ph.D. to take up lectures of university level.
The medical field handles life. In this field chances of reversing the damage caused by an individual who does not the knowledge of handling even the least of the procedures can be hard to correct. For instance if a clinical officer cheats in his resume that he has qualifications equal to that of a surgeon, then he should be imprisoned to avert any damage that he can cause in the long run.
It is paramount for such procedures to be effected because lack of knowledge is dangerous especially when the officer pretending bases his practice on observation or experience. A medical officer who does not have the knowledge that an overdose of a given drug may kill a patient if they ignorantly administer the drug, may lead to unchecked damage. Another angle to this relates to the problem of following up and controlling falsified practice.
