The starry night is a painting by Vincent Van Goghs. The painting depicts an overview of a night at a place. This is because the picture or rather image is characterized by heavenly bodies such as the stars which are brought out in an awkward but genuine form. The name of the painting also depicts that it is during the night (Boime 2006). Vincent uses the art of using crooked lines to draw his picture. He does not seem to have the need to use straight lines as they would not have had an effect such as the one that the picture has. The using of crooked lines is most effective as it brings out some of the things contained in the picture in their general form. For instance, Vincent would not have drawn clouds using straight lines as they would not have appeared like clouds.
Piet Mondrian is also another artist who drew the Composition II in blue, red and yellow as it is well known. The image is just plain in that it does not portray anything to be precise but is just the combining of some few colors. In this image, Piet uses straight lines and this has an effect of making it appealing and attractive as it somewhat appears to be organized. Be it that the lines used were crooked, then the painting would not be as appealing as it is (Locher 1994). The division of the different types of colors used using straight lines has made the painting look classic. Basically Piet’s painting is more about organization which is fostered by the use of straight lines. It comes out as an appealing as well as attractive image.
Mary Cassat is yet another painter who drew The Loge. It is a painting characterized by a shade of colors as well as other characteristics which make it appealing. The painting itself is organized as Mary has used up the space in the sense that the two girls who appear to be the main centre of attraction, have occupied nearly the whole space in the image. Moreover she has used a color combination starting from the dresses, the flowers and also the background. The color combination is just awesome as it has made the painting colorful and somewhat lively. Not forgetting, the painting is also characterized by light which has made it clear for people to see. There is just a regulation of the light and much of it is concentrated on the two girls. The white dresses that they are wearing somehow bring out some light. That must have been the idea Mary had in mind.
Lastly there is also another painter by the name Georges Seurat. His painting is called A Sunday afternoon on the island of Las Grande Jatte. The painting is well organized as it is characterized with people enjoying an afternoon in the sun near the bitch (Gage 1993). There is also the application of different types of colors which are presented by the different types of clothing by the people in the image as well as other things such as the water, the sky, the ground and many more. The image has a huge space which is filled up with people and other things. Finally there is light as the picture presents an afternoon which is obviously bright and shining.
