Characteristic of Human Dimension Approach
Human dimension framework project (HDF) originated in the year 1995 and its objective was to provide a scene for discussing forest service (Humans dimension of wildlife, 2012). It was also intended to provide parameters in for improving knowledge in learning, and finally to provide statistics key to forestry concepts. In the following years, the human dimension was involved in providing an enduring approach for continuing the interrelationship between the project formed and the forest service in collaborating with federal agencies and universities. These steps helped create awareness in a sector that was suffering hidden in the dark, which resulted to more personnel, guidance, and financing of the social sciences and specifically the forestry conservation division. Human dimension also involved itself in organizing workshops on several topics such as human interaction with ecosystem. In the meetings that also included symposiums, social scientists volunteered and a book was written around this period.
In addition to all the good work that human dimension was doing in helping the conservation process, it also took under its wings the responsibility to conduct research and advice the public on how to reserve the environment and the dangers involved in the degraded ecosystem (Humans dimension of wildlife, 2012). Some of the recommendations that they made that come in handy were that humans and the natural ecosystem are dependent on each other. Such a statement would go a long way in making challenging humans when they learnt that their quality of life depended on how well they conserve the environment. The fact that dynamics of the environment are hard to maintain and complex to understand was a good principle to introduce to the ignorant society. This way, the majority would understand the kind of challenge and responsibility that lay ahead of them. Others were that the ecosystem is interactive and the complexity of ecosystem varies.
How human dimensions approach relate to conservation
Human dimension approach relate to conservation on a very personal level. This is because it has made it its responsibility to create awareness to the whole world that the ecosystem is a resource that is alive. Therefore, it should be treated with the certain caution keeping in mind that social and ecological activities may affect the resource. Furthermore, human dimension has teamed up with the national park service. This partnership will ensure that the national Park Service (NPS) has constant support of the scientist and that they do not this challenging task of conserving the environment on their own. This is very beneficial to the conservation process since the NPS cannot afford the social skills required to manage ecosystem-based assistance.
Finally, human dimension approach relate to conservation since it is willing to be involved with other agencies in order to channel the knowledge and specialty that it has acquired over the years in order to give better results on how to conserve the environment better (Quizlet Cons 200- week 1, 2012). If this happens, science informed recommendations will be made and with the more knowledge gained in the conservation program, better informed decisions will be made that can be used to ensure that the ecosystem serves humans to the optimal.
The human dimension is also involved in measuring impacts of attitudes, awareness, and behavior related to awareness of the work its doing and the dedication the society is having in ensuring conservation of the environment. It also is responsible for matching up the number of agencies needed in the conservation of the environment as well as determines impacts of the programs taken to conserve the ecosystem and the relation and impact it will have on the human counterparts (Quizlet Cons 200- lecture5, 2012)
