Communication: Constant communication is necessary for any group to execute it tasks and achieve desired objectives. Group members will communicate through instant messaging using Google Hangouts. Each group member will be expected to have supporting applications installed on their mobile phones and other digital devices as will be necessary to facilitate real-time communications. Members must log in to their chat rooms, at least, every eight hours to confirm impeding group meetings and other information. Direct phone calls will also be utilized as often as will be appropriate.
Consequences: Failure to log in to the Google Hangout, at least, every eight hours will lead to a fine of $0.5, which will be contributed to the group’s social responsibility initiative. The same applies to members who fail to respond to phone calls from other group members.
Perception
Respect: all group communications will be conducted in a professional manner to promote an environment of mutual respect and friendship. Members are expected to respect each other’s views and opinions even if they do not agree with them. Each person should also be given sufficient time to present their views before other members react. Active listening is encouraged strongly especially when group members are discussing issues related to group tasks.
Consequences: Any member who behaves or acts in a manner that can be considered disrespectful to other group members will be required to pay a fine of $2. Proceeds from such fines will be used to cater for the group’s expenses such as the purchase of airtime.
Transparency and Accountability: group members are expected to embrace high levels of accountability individually and collectively. Where members have been assigned individual tasks, they will be responsible for timely completion of the tasks and submission of results. For teamwork, members shall work together to ensure that all objectives are met within available resources. For large tasks that require a lot of time, members are expected to report continuous progress, at least, every two days.
Consequences: Failure to be accountable for tasks assigned and resources used will lead to dismissal from the group. Failure to report progress as required will lead to a fine of $1 for each time reports are not provided.
Roles: The group will meet during the first Friday of the semester to select leaders. Group leaders will be expected to be a person of outstanding integrity and good communicators. There will be a Project Manager, who will be responsible for coordinating all affairs of the group. There will also be a Secretary General whose duties will include coordinating communications among group members. The group will also have a Treasurer, who will be responsible for keeping custody of the group’s resources.
Consequences: Failure to execute one’s leadership responsibilities as stipulated will lead to a fine of $5 and demotion from the position. Members must be supportive and respectful to their leaders.
Resources and Commitments: Meetings will be held twice a week for three hours. All members are required to attend meetings as will be scheduled. To meet the group’s expenses, members will be required to make monetary and other material contributions. The amount and frequency of the contributions will be communicated by the project manager.
Consequences: Failure to attend two group meetings without permission will lead to expulsion from the group. Any member that fails to contribute will also be expelled from the group.
