Human beings are social creatures, and they usually co-exist in a dependence manner within a community. The individual ability to depend on community members can have a positive or a negative impact. Relying on community members has far reaching effects in that, one has to trust the community members with a high degree of confidence and in most cases subscribe to their ideologies. In some instances, some of the ideologies are for ill motives or rather they are misguided by traditional myths. Some ideologies are also enshrined under radical religious misconceptions. On the contrary, some of the ideologies are for a right course, and ultimately they benefit the dependent individual positively. Despite the end results in the dependent relationship, the bottom line is that the ability to depend or not rely on community members matters.
Capacity to rely on to the community members matters in various ways. First, community members instill some ideological beliefs to their dependent. People who bestowed with a high niche ability to develop a dependence relationship are more likely to subscribe to the community-based idea. For instance, if an individual chooses to be dependent on a racist community member, there is a high likelihood that such an individual will become a racist. Such individuals may not view themselves as racist; rather, they see the oppressed group as underprivileged. This is the same case with the whites who see the color peoples as disadvantaged individuals rather than oppressed (McIntosh 31). The whites also fail to ascertain that they are advantaged in respect to the color people. This kind of ideologies is highly perpetuated by co-dependence within a community.
Secondly, the ability to rely on community members also aids in creating a system of economic interdependence. For an economy to thrive and succeed, the society must install an avenue of general reliant. The general reliant is crucial in the production of goods and services (Baier, Bergstrand & mariutto 36). It is hard for a self-reliance business person to succeed in comparison to an individual who has mastered the art to rely on others. An economic system is a constant and interconnected system whereby people benefit by relying on each other. To be rich, an individual has to focus on working hard, family, and fellow citizens or community members (McNamee & Robert para 10). For instance, a bus driver relies on passengers whereas the passengers rely on the bus driver. It is crystal clear that individuals who have an ability to rely on others will have an upper hand in business and economic success.
The ability to rely on to the community members also helps one to unlock his or her full potential. People who can associate with others are likely to acquire some help easily. There is also likelihood that individuals who have the ability to rely on other community members have a better chance to get mentors or even projects sponsors. Such individuals will help them to undertake substantial milestones in their projects or even in their career journey. It is clear that those people who have the ability to rely on community members are likely to achieve their dreams faster and easier compared to individuals who have limited ability to rely on others.
Moreover, the ability to rely on community members creates an avenue to exercise shared responsibilities. In most cases, people who have an ability to rely on others also have a unique character that culminates a dependence relationship. In other words, such individuals are welcoming and ready to support those individuals who may seek or require their help. For instance, most philanthropists cite that at one point in their lives they relied on someone. It is as a result of that past dependence that motivates them to help those in need of aid. They are true believers of the famous saying “a candle does not lose its luminance by lighting another one”. Furthermore, relying on others aids in creating a system for fighting oppression (Patricia Hill para 6). For instance, black women struggling against oppression was steered forward as a factor of group survival. Therefore, the ability to rely on other community members can also be attributed to the willingness to support. Indeed, the capacity to depend on community members does matter.
Finally, the ability to rely on community members helps in building meaningful relationships. Mastering the art of dependence contributes to a significant professional and personal relationship. Individuals who are highly independents tend to have a more self-reliant relationship (Crane 141). They are usually not accommodative, making it hard for the members of the society to get closer to them. In the modern competitive world, it is hard to succeed as a lone wolf. Teamwork is essential for every professional, and thus people with defective professional relationships are likely to be less active in their profession.
