In today’s world, we are bombarded with commercials and advertisements advising us to eat better and exercise more in order to live better and longer, making the entire image of a healthy life one easily attainable. However, the problem of health still appears to be a major issue in countries with a large number of overweight people, consuming junk food, sodas and candy in excessive amounts. This is why so many people acquire illnesses and conditions earlier and earlier in life, sizing down the average human life span, slowly but surely. Thus, the good old saying is true: a sound mind in a sound body, and if we want to live a long and fruitful life, we must put in the effort necessary to achieve this.
Good health should be a way of life taught to children, because only that way a healthy child can grow up to become a healthy adult, who will continue on this path. Simultaneously, if a child is not provided with all the nutrients, vitamins and all other necessities of a healthy lifestyle, he may grow up to become a person who cannot take care of himself due to an illness, and thus, can never regain his health, which is the most precious thing humans are given. It is one of the few, rare things that money cannot buy, and no matter what we offer anyone, health cannot be bought with any earthly goods. Thus, it is a precious thing well worth taking care of.
In addition, a healthy person is a happy person. Physical ailments often turn out to carry a certain amount of psychological burden as well, making this person unhappy, nervous, and unwilling to socialize. It is proven that physical activity has positive effects on the human psyche, and a person who is bedridden due to a physical ailment, is bound to feel a lack of vigor and a complete lack of spiritual upheaval.
Thus, looking after one’s body is not a decision that should be taken lightly, because there is no wondrous, magical pill that can be attained when someone becomes ill. It should be a life choice of healthy food intake, which luckily for everyone, does not exclude foodstuffs like chocolate, coffee and sugar, but merely advises a reasonable intake. It has been scientifically proven that chocolate, sugar, coffee and similar foods can benefit the human organism if taken in moderation. Thus, it is not a question of eating only bland food and fruit, but most things in moderation, in order for us to achieve physical and psychological health and longevity.
