Leadership trait is the incorporated practices of personal features that mirror a variety of personal differences and promote steady leader efficiency across a range of a group as well as organizational circumstances (Zaccaro, Kemp, & Bader, 2004). There exist a number of leadership traits in a healthcare organization. Leaders in this area have vision. They have the capability to see further than their present situation. They have a tendency to have big objectives as well as big dreams, and they remain focused on attaining them. These leaders have a positive attitude regarding how they take life and opportunities as well as challenges in it. They are energetic where they at all times appear as if they are on the go, thinking and moving quicker than anyone else around them. The fuel of this energy is through exciting desires and objectives, through positive attitude, through passion as well as through good mental and physical health (Gandolf & Hirsch, 2012).
Leadership style, on the other hand, is the way one conducts themselves when trying to make influence on the other people’s performance. The Schmid’s Continuum and Tannenbaum of leader conduct associates to the decision making authority aspect of leader conduct, and may be exhibited ranging from tyrannical to individualistic. The situational model of leadership, on the other hand, entails a mixture of relationship and task behaviors. The task behavior entails the degree to which leaders define and organize functions of followers by clearly informing them what they need to do, where to do it, the way they should do it, and the time they should do it, and then directly monitoring their performance. The relationship behavior entails maintenance of personal relationship with followers, hearing them, offering support and encouragement for their endeavors, and then alleviating their engagement and sharing in solving a problem as well as making decision (Amer, 2013).
Professionals in the field of nursing have a number of industry organizations to select from, which may be of help to them in staying aware of nursing related political actions. Nursing organizations may be specialized or general, but with the two, members will give support to a stated mission. These professional organizations are important in maintaining state as well as national connections to check ongoing developments in politics. The American Nurses Association is an example of professional organizations that represent many registered nurses that keep them aware of the political developments. Staying aware of policies related to healthcare is important in not just offering protection to the nursing practice but also to their working environment. Protection of these matters provides better nurses and puts patients in the most dependable environments (American Nurses Association, 2013).
