Steve Jobs is well-known for his good leadership skills as a CEO in Apple Company. He is well known for his great passion and love for computer products in the company. He incorporated a strong motivational work in his leadership with a focus to enhance employee productivity. Nevertheless, he believed in risk taking which was a focus to promote the sense of innovation within the company. Steve Jobs led Apple Company by use of laissez-faire leadership style which was directed towards enhancing technology based products. As a result, this leadership style created a room for creativity among the Apple employees (Portal of China, 2013).
The laissez-faire leadership used by Steve Jobs in Apple had a downside. People believed that Steve Jobs had a personalized leadership whose aim was only to quench his own interests and more particularly money. They also argued that he concentrated more on key projects of the Company which were in his vision neglecting other leadership role of the company. As a result, many of this people did not have passion for this kind of leadership.
I endorse Steve’s leadership style since it promotes creativity and innovation among the employees. Nevertheless, it allows employees to come up with their own ideas without any control from the management. This enhances employee motivation thus promoting employee productivity. All this combine to enhance organization efficiency thus good performance. However, this type of leadership may also have a negative effect to the organization performance. This is because it allows employee to do whatever they wish which may also be lead to inefficiency in the organization (Bratton etal, 2005).
