- Does method have a societal marketing orientation? Is it just a market-oriented company that integrates a number of environmental practices into its operation? Explain.
Method is an organization that produces products regarding home care. There are various cleansing products developed by this organization in order to serve several objectives toward the customers. First of all, through their products they want to provide a better experience of home care to their customers. Secondly, they want to make people aware of the green environment issue and make people understand the concept of total quality.
The marketing orientation for method does seem to be a societal marketing one, since it is focusing upon products and aspects that could not only serve the objective of home care for the people of a given society, but will also serve the purpose of green environment. They are trying to improve upon their performance of their products, by focusing the dirt, pollution, fragrance, and home grooming issues. They are trying to provide people with the soothing aroma solutions that will keep their home clean and pollution free (Daft, 2013).
However, from a given video, it seems that, they are also concentrating upon the marketing efforts since they are selling their products in various types of store formats across the entire nation. Their products are cheaper, and hence, makes feasible for the customer to buy their products. People have got addicted to cleaning their homes, after buying the products from Methods.
It is mentioned that, the indoor environment is almost five times more polluted than the outdoor environment. It urges people to buy products from
Method, which is a direct way of marketing their products (Heifetz & Linsky, 2002). However, at the same time, they are also conscious about taking care of the health of the people. They have provided suggestions through which they will be able to maintain good health at their homes. They need to avoid buying of the bleaches and other surface cleaners as they contain toxic and nasty chemicals. It can directly affect the body of a given individual. It can further impact pets also.
Keeping such objectives in mind, method is designing products that are friendly in environment and also helps, in achieving the objectives of cleaning for the societal customers. They are focusing on those energy sources that are renewable in nature. As part of their Social Responsibility, they have even planted 1,000 trees with a view to create a carbon-neutral business in a given environment. They are trying to educate and spread awareness amongst other business chains so that they can take better and quicker initiatives as compared to local people. They are thereby, trying to engage all the people with the green environment initiative. However, at the same time, they have even marketed their products.
