The First Question on Corruption
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) issued a report that a majority of the banks are not complying regulations and guidelines after an assessment. There are some certain rules and guidelines that Financial Services Authority regulated institutions should follow and comply. The banking sector and the insurance sector are under the FSA, and they should comply with anti-bribery and corruption rules. In this Act, financial institutions are liable when they fail to prevent corrupt practices. This means that institutions should put in place proper measures and controls that prevent corrupt practices and failure results to corporate criminal liability of the involved institution (Attwood, 2013). This issue is an investigative journalism as it seeks to explain how the banks are practicing corrupt practices and the measures that the FSA is adopting to curb the corrupt practices by the banks.
The Second Question on Gold Price and Effect on Stock Market
There has been a downfall of gold prices tumbling at the rate of 9%, which was recorded as the sharpest fall in a period of thirty years. This has led to shattering of investors’ faith in the stock market, which led to heightened selling of commodities and the stock market. Various financial institutions have also lowered their forecasts on gold. However, the recent tumble was greater than the most pessimistic forecasts. Majority of the investors surprised of the stock market leading to a fall of major stocks in various stock exchanges, in different countries. In addition, the bond markets also fell and investors started shifting their funds to less risky assets (POPPER, 2013). This article presents an investigative journalism as one may need to inquire about the future of the stock markets and whether gold prices will stabilize, hence stabilizing the stock market.
