Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities
Quarterly Meeting
Venue: Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Meeting Room G13, Bismark, ND
Agenda: Launching Vocational Training Institutes in the towns of North Dakota to create more employment opportunities for people living in towns
Goals to Achieve:
- As per the report of our research held and discussed in previous meeting majority of people with disabilities do not want to leave their homes and go to faraway places for training.
- As we already have many vocational training institutes in the cities, it would be effective more effective to reach out people who cannot reach the cities.
- Vocational Training institute would target people from age of 18 onwards.
- We will be focusing on physically disabled people only, initially.
- Later we might include mentally impaired people as well
- First we need to hold research in ND’s different towns to figure out the number of mentally disabled people and also find out the kinds of disabilities.
- According to the data collected from the research report we would hire trainers and make a proposal to implement this plan.
- The proposal should include what equipment would be needed to set up training institutes keeping in mind the kind of disabilities. Keep a specific time period of the training which would ensure people are now ready for employment.
- The proposal should also include how much expense would be needed to set up the institutes. So a proper budget should be there in the proposal which would be made keeping in mind the budget available to the department of Human services.
- I would like to request Ms. Susan to head this project as she is quite experienced in this field and can take team members along in the best possible manner.
- The team should include members who are voluntarily interested in this project since it would require extra travelling out there to the towns to conduct research and surveys and to set up institutes. (Nd.gov, 2014)
Open-ended questions:
- Does everybody agree with the idea of forming training institutes in towns?
- If No, then what are the setbacks that are expected if such a project is to be set out? Would this project result in any negative consequences?
- What would be the sufficient number of members working on this project and form a team?
- How many institutes should be formed initially?
- Kindly give any further ideas that have been missed out and were important to be considered in the project?
- How effective could this project be in promoting employment opportunities for people living in towns?
- What should be the minimum and maximum time period of the training?
- What procedure to be adopted to enroll people in the institutes, once launched?
- How to spread awareness about this initiative amongst people once the program is launched?
- How many people should initially work just on the research process? How to divide the towns amongst members?
Our next meeting would be held within a month where Mr. Jason would provide the team with a proposal regarding the research to be held in the towns. The proposal would be first analyzed and if needed edited by Ms. Susan. The proposal would be discussed with the executive team of this project everybody should come up with their feedback regarding the proposal making sure it lacks no necessary objective. The proposal would be then forwarded to the finance department for approval, and once it gets approved only then we can implement and set out next plan of Action.
