As Louis Kahn - a famous American architect of Jewish origins – I can mention the necessity of a new building to be designed. Considering the style is mostly represented in the architectural style of Philadelphia, the proposal of a new building will leave no one apathetic. Some significant buildings like the Yale University Art Gallery, Richards Medical Research Laboratories, Salk Institute, and many others may become the prototypes for such a work.
The most impressive thing is the scale of the buildings. Like the majority of other projects, it should be a kind of modern knight’s castle. Nevertheless, the style is associated with the technically innovative monumentalism and monolithism (Kahn & Twombly, 2003). Within the boundaries of architecture of the modernism of the previous century, my buildings of concrete with huge holes and perpendicular angles will stand out due to the color spectrum. In fact, the range of colors should not be wide as it is between white and gray of the cement walls and the brightness of the sunlight, which enters the building through the massive windows.
The building is likely to be done in accordance to the trends of modernism, following the best traditions of the architectural style. It is going to be really huge, which means that it is both high and wide. Besides, its form is rather a cube - all the sides are equal. The domination of the angular figures is mixed with the perfectly round big windows with lattice used instead of glass. Still, the circles of the windows are crossed by the stairs, which create triangles. Additionally, the threshold of the building is placed under the massive protrusion and creates a pyramid-like triangle as the main entrance. The main material is concrete. The color range is from the dark-gray of the windowsills to the off-white of the threshold.
As you can see, the building is worthy of being built. Once created, it will stand out from all above and shine brightly.
