1. Change is very necessary for any organization to grow, to deal with huge competition and to deal with increasing demands of customers. Now the question is how one should deal and cope up with changes. One can deal with changes by adopting following methods:
Education and Communication – Management can reduce the fear of change by communicating proper reason behind the change. If the change is in favor of all stakeholders, employees take change very effectively.
Participation – Management can involve employees in taking decision for the change as one can not go back against his own decision.
Building Support and Commitment – A proper counseling, guidance, training and paid leave help in building commitment of employees for change.
Develop Positive Relationship – if relationship between employees and their managers is healthy and employees trust them, bringing changes are not difficult.
Implementation of changes fairly – process for implementing changes should be very clear and fair.
Manipulation and Cooperation – if changes can bring negative effect and management knows that employee will not accept those changes, management manipulate the information and make changes very attractive. Management also involved employees in making changes.
Selection of Employees, Who can Easily Accept Changes – organization may select those candidates who have positive attitude towards changes.
Coercion – employer can forcefully implement the change by giving direct threats to employees like firing, job transfer, negative performance and salary deduction.
Based on certain research and studies, it has been found that a huge percentage of working population is suffering from stress due to long working hours, various responsibilities and heavy workload. People are struggling in managing work and family responsibilities. People suffering from stress face physiological and psychological problems like; Depression, anxiety, low productivity and less job satisfaction. It is very important to effectively deal with the stress.
I at my own level can manage the stress very effectively. It has been seen that because of poor time management people face various challenges. A well planned time management will give me opportunity to attend physical exercise sessions, relaxation training sessions and to increase social networking. I will manage my time, by making list of tasks needs to be performed on particular day, by prioritizing tasks based on the requirements. For effective time management it is also required to perform jobs as per set priorities. Individual can go for various physical exercises and relaxation techniques like meditation and yoga to decrease their stress. One can also opt to attend various wellness programs run by nonprofit organizations.
2. Resistance to change is irrational response and I completely agree with this statement. In current scenario when competition is very high, all the companies are adopting various strategies to achieve their targets. Companies are introducing new ideas to win the hearts of customers. Due to new policies, strategies, other external factors as well as internal factors, companies are bounded to bring changes. There are various factors that force organizations to go for planned or unplanned changes. For example ageing work force and increasing outsourcing generate a need for change in workforce. Another example is introduction of advance technology replace the old technology.
Some other major factors for changes are; stable or unstable economic condition of the country, government policies, changing social trends and political environment.
Awareness among people is increasing day by day. People are becoming more educated and curious about things. Globalization and Liberalization has made various options available for the people hence change is necessary for the organization and no organization can afford to sustain without bringing the necessary changes in their organization.
