Advertisement of over the counter drugs has increased over the last decade. Drug manufacturing companies usually advertise their products to the public. Mostly, these advertisements are not of drugs meant to cure serious diseases. They are self care drugs like drugs to heal sore throats, sinuses, allergies and aches these are drugs that do not require a doctor’s prescription to be taken. These advertisements are presented on all forms of public media such as news papers, magazines, journals, television, radio and internet. The advertisements are meant to convince the public that the drugs are efficient and safe to be taken by the affected people.
On the Drugs.com on 15th of February, there was an advertisement of a pain killer drug that can be used to reduce back pains, headache, sciatica and osteoarthritis. This is subject to a recent study that revealed that Naproxen Sodium can be used to cure aches and inflammations. The study revealed that the drug has anti-inflammations and is not steroidal. The drug is not affected by the Act of Controlled Substances.
The advertisement is actually convincing to the public to buy the drug. The advertisement has the drug specifications like the strength, imprint, shape, availability, and shape, class of the drug, the manufacturer and the people it may affect like pregnant women. These specifications are aimed at making the public know more about the drug and how to use it. This actually appeals to the public because the advertisement lists all the illnesses that the drug can help reduce pain.
On 16th this month, there was an advertisement on Walmart.com about a drug called Equate. This is an allergy medication drug. It is found in 25mg capsules Antihistamine. The advertisement gives the price of the drug, its actual description, the warnings about its side effects and directions of use. The drug/product is also reviewed in the advertisement. The drug is said to relieve runny nose, sore throats, cold, sneezing and itchy watery eyes. The drug contains diphenhydramine hcl 25mg of antihistamine. The directions of use include the quantity to be taken by different ages of people.
The advertisement is comprehensive, giving the public all the required information about the drug, including warnings. This convinces the public because the specifications are easy to understand. This is a typical over the counter drug because it has all the instructions of use. The advertisement also contains some of the drugs that serve the same purpose as the Equate Allergy tablets.
In the February/March edition of the INsite AGED CARE magazine, there is an advertisement of the Ibuprofen drug. The drug is used for provision of relief of pain and stress. The advertisement talks about different ways of managing pain like music therapy, rhythmic tapping and other individual approaches of managing pain. In the advertisement, there is the merging of the traditional and modern ways of pain management. One modern way is the use of pain killers and Ibuprofen is one of the most effective pain killing drugs. The specifications, warnings and dosage of the drug are included in the drug advert. There are also recommendations about the drug’s efficiency for different ages of people, the diet to be taken by the people affected and other details.
