I want to thank you for how you acted during last week’s festival preparations. By realizing that some of our guest’s children were on the closed beach you may well have saved their lives and adverted a disaster. That these children were under the supervision of our in house childcare staff at the time could have increased the resort’s liability had any of the children been injured while playing on the jetty. You chose the perfect course of action by pointing out the potential dangers of allowing children to play on wet, rocks near the surf after dark to the childcare providers, then contacting security to cordon off the area.
Festival preparation times are difficult for any resort; the staff is maintaining their everyday activities and assuming newly assigned duties. Your supervisor informed me that you, like most of our staff had already accepted extra work in order to help Our Resort prepare for the upcoming festival. What particularly impressed me was that you then went back to check the beach area after your shift was over on your own time. This demonstrates that an extraordinary commitment to excellence and guest service and support motivated you to go the extra mile. Your example made a positive impact on all our staff. Although no staff member violated any of our printed regulations and so will not be reprimanded, it is obvious that some did not employ common sense either.
Because insurance precludes having lifeguard shift supervisors under the age of twenty-one years, I am creating an assistant supervisor position whose duties include providing an interface between our security, lifeguard and childcare departments. I would like you to fill that position and assist with drawing up additional procedures to make sure none of our guests’ children is again exposed to potential accidents. I am also making this letter of recognition part of your permanent file.
In closing, I want to thank you again for your extra effort, common sense and your calm and appropriate actions. You truly deserve to be congratulated and rewarded for providing customer service and support well beyond the expectations of Our Resort.
