Dear Mr. Hussein
Custom Wood
I am writing this letter concerning the recipient of an incorrect item from your company. I received an 11 feet 10 inches mahogany door instead of the 12-foot size that I had requested. The door request was made for a Highland Park home of a Dallas Mavericks player. Having been a long standing customer over the years, I believe you will understand my grievances in relation to this matter. I also believe that we will reach an amicable resolution to the issue at hand.
On the 17th of May 2015, Contempo Interiors, through one of my employees made an order for a solid mahogany door also known as “Provence” from your company. After four weeks of waiting, the product arrived on the 28th of June 2015. Upon inspection by the carpenter that had been hired to fix the door, the door was found to be 11 feet 10 inches, which was much smaller than the expected 12 feet door.
Having waited long enough, the client had ordered for an immediate fixing of the door, which further complicated the matter. This meant that returning the door and waiting for a further four weeks would be out of the question. In an effort to find a quick solution, the carpenter offered to rebuild the opening to which the door was to be fixed. He then fixed the smaller door into the opening but asked for a higher fee to compensate or the time he spent rebuilding the opening. Upon completion, his extra charge amounted to $940.50. I should not have incurred this cost had your company sent in the right door size that my company had requested. In writing this letter, I seek to be reimbursed the extra charges I incurred due to the oversight from your company. Looking at the case at hand, by working with the door that had been sent from American Custom Wood, I did save you a significant cost on transport charges.
My decision of not making a return and waiting for the right size door, as I explained, was because of the time constraint I had. The client had been patient enough considering the fact that it was an entryway door. My request for reimbursement is based on the good relations that Contempo Interiors has had with American Custom Wood over the years. Time and again I have used your products ranging from your doors to windows. There is no doubt regarding the quality of your products, however, my issue relates to the extra cost incurred in rebuilding the opening for the fitting of the door. I know we can readily find a resolution to this problem. The bill of the extra charge by the carpenter is attached herein. I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely yours
Owner of Contempo Interiors
