The key points supposed to be communicated in the email are the purpose of the conference, a summary of the report from the meeting, and how the information obtained can be applied to the organization. The grammatical mistakes in the email can make it hard for the email recipient to understand or identify the key points of the report. Besides, lack of a clear organization or formatting of the email complicates the clear understanding. A corrected version of the email should be as shown in the following pages:
Hello Mitchell,
I believe everything is going on well with you. I would like to inform you that I attended the conference on Workplace Issues held on November 3rd. As the only company representative in the conference, I feel it is necessary to share what I learned with you and if possible the entire company management.
The topic was “How to Prevent Workplace Violence” presented by Kit Atkins. I found it very fascinating. The company has been fortunate to avoid serious incidents. However, it is necessary that we come up with measures that will prevent the occurrence of such incidences. According to Ms. Atkins, we can prevent workplace-related violence or injuries by following these steps:
The company should not enter into a contract with an applicant before doing a background check. Some candidates may withdraw from the recruitment process, especially if they have something to hide.
Creating an employee handbook:
This handbook should outline what employees are supposed to do when they suspect potential workplace violence. The handbook should also provide a way to protect the identity of informers.
Recognizing red-flag behavior:
Companies are required to train managers on how they can identify signs of potential workplace violence. One sign could be an increase in the number of arguments (most of them petty) among coworkers. Another indication of violence is extreme changes in behavior or statements that could be a result of family-related depression or financial problems. Bullying or harassing behavior is also a sign of potential violence. Besides, some employees will bring a firearm to work or start displaying an extreme fascination with firearms. These are few but typical examples that could indicate violence.
Based on the three measures, personally, I recommend prescreening job candidates as the best for this company. This is because it is most feasible. I can research more on prescreening techniques if this will be the position of the company. I would also like to know your stand about prescreening. Let me know by November 18 if you want me to present the entire report at our management meeting scheduled for December 3.
Best regards,
Ellie
